This pack includes the GWR 20T and 40T Coal wagons in 3 levels of weathering, with loaded and unloaded variants covering the designs from GWR, WD and BR.
History:
The GWR 20T and 40T coal wagons were built by the Great western to Carry Coal to its many loco depots and clients. By far the 20T was the most numerous of the coal wagons with hundreds being built and used across the entire GWR network. The 40T wagons were built in much smaller numbers with them being considered not to have any significant advantages over the existing 20T fleet, with the lower speeds the unfitted coal trains ran at negating the advantages of bogie stock. A couple 40T wagons fell into War Department use and most were scrapped by British Railways days with a few remaining. Likewise, the 20T wagons found their way into British Railways service before being scrapped. There are several 20T coal wagons which made their way to preservation, though sadly no 40T wagons survived to preservation.
